PARIAN AT THE REGENT LAS VEGAS
Restaurant Review
Reviewed: 3/10/00

Wonderful but definately twisted! Parian at The Regent Las Vegas is a cut above the rest! The first impression you get when you enter the dining room is cozy, comfortable and a depart from the norm. A large picture window shows the inner workings of a well groomed kitchen. Large over-stuffed sofas with pillows propped to meet the dining table invite you to relax and enjoy the dining experience. Potted utensils, yes that's right, POTTED utensils along with a harpist, fill the room with a whimsy atmosphere. Twisted, yes, but certainly not stuffy.

Your enjoyment begins with the interesting table setting which is enhanced by offerings of champagne in flutes without feet. Next a bite of herb boursin cheese with a sliver of fresh smoked salmon. This initiates your palate for an incredible choice of dinner entrees. My favorite is "From a Parian Wok." Duck and Lobster Chow Mein with kaffir lime and coriander. Who would have thought of mixing crispy chinese duck with fresh lobster chucks in a bed of juilenne veggies and noodles. The combination is delightful and delicious. If you prefer a beefy dish, try the Filet of Angus Beef, wrapped in a smoked mozzarella with fried leeks and a tangy Sonoma County cabernet sauce. And don't forget dessert. The Raspberry Torte is decadent without being chocolate.

The service is excellent. The wait staff will explain every dish in detail and answer any questions you may have for this slightly twisted menu. Prices are moderate and the wine list extensive. The atmosphere reminds you of a cozy library den with dark wood, high ceilings and soft couches. From the table presentation to the sweet truffles upon your exit, you'll find this a great dining experience.
