PUTTER's BAR & GRILL
Restaurant Review
Reviewed: 11/15/98

A neighborhood delight! Putter's Bar & Grill is a perfect spot for a quick bite to eat that's away from the fuss and muss of the downtown and strip areas. Putter's is a cut above most neighborhood food venues. First, the friendly atmosphere is enhanced by the friendly service. Secondly, the sandwiches are not only delicious but they are huge. And thirdly, the price fits everyone's pocketbook. The menu consists of the usual appetizers and salads, then goes on to sandwiches, burgers and dinners. To give our readers a break from whole dinner entree reviews, I chose the "Tri Tip Dip." Sound intriging? It was thinly sliced, moist and flavorful tri tip beef, smothered with grilled onions, mild green chiles and melted swiss cheese. A side of hot au jus softened the french bread just perfectly. The thick steak fries which accompany each sandwich (you can also get potato salad or cole slaw) creates a full plate.

Besides the hot and cold sandwiches, they offer traditional dinners like meatloaf, roast beef, roast turkey some pasta dishes and a cod fillet. Let's not forget the full line of beverages, being a bar, at great prices.

The service was excellent, not the norm for neighborhood grills. The attitude of the waitress showed that she enjoyed working here and that sentiment carried over into her performance. The kitchen was quick and exact. The atmosphere is open and airy. Although the room is not large enough for a separate no-smoking area, it is not smoky nor does it smell like smoke. The tobacco smoke rose straight to the ceiling vents and out of the building. Good design. What a nice change!
