SMITH & WOLLENSKY
Restaurant Review
Reviewed: 4/25/99

Bring your wallet, it isn't cheap! Smith & Wollensky is the newest addition of chain restaurants to Las Vegas. Renown in other cities as being an excellent dining place, this location needs to work up to that standard. The menu is trim with everything ala carte. They specialize in steaks and seafood. Our party began with a seafood platter. Absolutely excellent!. The snow crab, lobster tails, tiger prawns were fresh and cold. The presentation on a huge ice bedded platter was superb. But so was the cost. Each piece was individually priced. In town famous for $9.95 lobster dinners its hard to swallow.

The steaks are large and cooked to perfection but for close to $30 per steak I would expect it to be cooked to perfection. You must order all potatoes and vegetables separately at around $8 each. If you're in the mood for lobster you may want to consider eating it cold as it is only $11.95 for a full cold lobster no matter the weight but it is $21.75 per pound for a hot boiled lobster. And don't let them free pour bottled water unless you are willing to fork out $8 a bottle.

The food was very good. The service was fair. And the valets leave before the diners. The decor is lovely, dark wood, crisp linen table cloths and walls filled with lots of laud and praise of their other facilities. A cute little private room abutts a glass wall of the kitchen for those who want a more home-like atmosphere.
