"Lance Burton: Master Magician" has returned to the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino after a well-deserved two-week hiatus. He will be performing through the eve of Labor Day to full houses, so book your tickets early. The summer crowds will be filling houses nightly to experience the world's best working magician.
"Crazy Girls: Fantasy Revue," featuring R-rated comedian Carole Montgomery, is the No. 1 topless revue in Las Vegas. With the resurgence of topless revues, "Crazy Girls" is the original and the best by far. The Los Angeles Times recently visited "Crazy Girls" and will be featuring them in an in-depth feature story on Las Vegas' trend of returning to adult-oriented shows because the gaming mecca wants to appeal to everyone. Only the Riviera Hotel & Casino would feature such an upscale revue with class and elegance.
"An Evening at La Cage," starring Frank Marino as Joan Rivers, is a value-oriented show that is enjoyed by all adults. The comedic skills of Frank Marino and his command of the "La Cage" showroom is a tribute to his showmanship. Marino is, by the way, the longest-running headliner on the Las Vegas Strip. The impersonators of "La Cage" are so hilarious and outstanding in their portrayals of their characters that this is a show that entertains a wide variety of audiences. You can book this show at the Riviera Hotel & Casino and have a grand time.
"Justin Tranz: Hip-Nosis" is the best hypnotist with comedic skills that you will ever witness. He performs Tuesday through Saturday at the Flamingo O'Shea's Casino Comedy Theatre on the second floor. The $29.95 ticket price is a bargain according to today's standards. Tranz' show will keep you entertained for two hours. Afterwards, the audience is so enthused that they don't want to leave. Tranz, like Marino, meets and greets each member of the audience as they exit the theater. This show is a must-see.

There have never been so many shows playing at any one time in Las Vegas as there are this summer. Even the local casinos are booking headlining acts. The competition among shows and headliners has never been so tough. The prices of show tickets have never been so high. The best way to find out the truth about a show is to visit the showroom as the audience leaves and ask them if they got their money's worth. Even off-Strip hotel-casinos such as the Orleans are booking superb acts like Los Lobos and Neil Sedaka.
Some of the mainstays on the Las Vegas Strip that are worth seeing, if you are fans of this particular type of entertainment, are: Wayne Newton at the Stardust, "Lord of the Dance" at New York New York, "Legends in Concert" at the Imperial Palace, the Riviera Comedy Club, "O" at the Bellagio, and "Mystere" at Treasure Island. You really can't go wrong with any of these shows.
When Las Vegas is full of traditional visitors, the shows always pack the house. However, when the conventioneers are in town, the shows are less than full. One rule of thumb, if you have your heart set on a particular show, and the box office informs you that the show is sold out, show up at showtime at the box office anyway. There is usually an SRO line. I have rarely seen anyone turned away, because the no-show rate varies between 10-22 percent.
