It has taken 10 years for a certain chef to bring his unusual concept of dining in our little village (he has five other locations in Dunedin, Tampa, and Boca Raton, Florida, and Charleston, South Carolina), and prove to us that it is not volume, but quality that counts in a perfect dinner. Just like a perfect storm, it takes just the right mix to make it come alive - Chef Roland Levi, along with his wife, Gail, have done the near impossible in designing six dinners a week for no more than 30 people at a time. The restaurant, located at 2110 Rampart in Summerlin, is called Six Tables.
Nancy Barr and this writer were invited to partake of the dinner this past Sunday and to also watch Master Magician Steve Dacri do his sleight-of-hand magic, following dinner. What can one say about a perfect dining experience? The first thing server / hostess Mary Mueller does is guide you to a table for two. There are two separate groups of six and another couple. Champagne is served and the experience begins. Oh, yes, you must be at your exclusive table by 7 p.m. And, be prepared to linger into the evening. Another wonderful part of this experience is you can actually have a conversation - music is barely noticeable in the background.
Chef Levi introduces himself (he has a slight accent being from Belgium) and tells of his training (he has prepared meals for Princess Diana, former House Speaker Tip O'Neil and Margaret Thatcher to name just a few). He introduces waiter Greg Wall, then describes the prix fixe menu and your choice of entries (chateaubriand béarnaise, duckling a I'orange, baby rack of lamb and venison). First out was a bit of salmon with an apricot puree; second was a wonderful soup (Nancy had clam chowder and I a butternut squash) that both of us agreed was fabulous. A delicious salad ala Chef Levi, followed with a bit of sorbet for the palate. We ordered the Chateaubriand (split between us) and "wow" what a fantastic choice. The potato and asparagus were perfectly prepared. This was followed by a pear (baked in a wine sauce) and cheese wedge. The dessert is, honestly, indescribable - a very fine crepe wrapped over ice cream with an orange flambé. Having lived in our village for 42 years, this is without question one of my top five dinners ever.

The dinner, during the week (they take Monday as a day of rest) when Dacri is not performing, is priced at $90.00 per person. On Saturday and Sunday, the price goes up to $300.00 per person, and please believe me, the entire experience is worth every dime. Dacri is a wonderfully talented entertainer, who not only is the best at his profession (the hand is quicker than the eye) but could be a stand-up comedian. We will follow up on his performance next week. For reservations (you must make them) call Six Tables at 256-2060.
"Up and Smoke" after hours at PUFF Nightclub features top international DJ and producer Saeed Younan, this Friday (May 30) and prominent DJ faarsheed, Saturday. Doors open at 8 p.m. throughout the weekend. The location is a bit hard to find the first time, but it's in a purple building just around the corner off East Flamingo. The actual address is 1030 E. Flamingo. It's really a neat place to hang your hat until the wee hours of the morning. And, for you smokers out there, you can actually smoke in the bar section. Food is out of sight, by the way.

Vincent Falcone, Tommy Deering, Las Vegas Tenors, Peter Anthony, Linda November and Michaelina head the list thus far. The Master of Ceremonies and the guy behind this wonderful event, Nelson Sardelli spends a lot of time (and $$$) to make sure the veterans, who live in the home, are not forgotten. Father's Day is June 15, with the show starting at around noon. More info and a complete list will be in my next column...
