We recognize the importance of privacy of your personal information, plus Google has insisted we tell you about this stuff. Following is information about the types of personal information which may be received and collected when you visit our site, and how we safeguard your information. We never sell your personal information to third parties, in fact noone has really ever even asked us for it.
Like most websites, our server does collect, and on rare occassions we might even look at, the data contained in our log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or your local telephone or cable company), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site. Of course it does NOT generally contain your personal name, address, phone number, or practically any other information with which to specifically identify you personally, so rest assured we won't be calling you in the middle of the night.
Unlike many sites, we personally do not use cookies to store any information. However some of our associated third party advertisers including Google Adsense, and their advertisers may use cookies or Web Beacons. These may be used to store information such as your personal preferences when you visit THEIR sites. This information could be used for things like only showing you a popup once in your visit, or the ability to login to certain features, such as forums or to make shopping carts or signup forms work more smoothly.
We also feature third party advertisements on our pages. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as the Google Adsense program) information including your IP address, your ISP, previous sites you visited, the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed, but not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing flight specials specifically from New York to those living in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific past sites visited (such as showing travel ads to someone who frequents travel sites).
You can chose to disable or selectively turn off cookies, DART cookies, or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by selecting preferences in programs like Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with some websites, generally wrecks havoc with many web sites (except ours of course since we have never used them on our sites) and basically "breaks" many carefully constructed online applications to pieces, which can actually often be quite amusing to watch. These effects could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts or buying that cool red stapler from your favorite online auction web site. You may also visi the "Google ad and content network privacy policy" to opt out of the use of the DART cookie.
